Most of the rain falls in summer thunderstorms, but the ambient warm weather makes up for the odd patch of rain. When the sun shows its face in full, temperatures can reach 25-30 C.

In the winter, temperatures plummet and snow is common in the lower lying areas and deserts. There is a chance of snowfall all year round on the higher peaks. In the lowlands, temperatures get down to 7 C (19 F) and in the highlands the plummet as low as 18 C (0 F). Be warned - in winter months, this is not your typically temperate African climate, especially on the highlands at night. That said, during winter days, there is plenty of sun and the mercury can rise to 15-20C.
