This honeymoon itinerary combines just the right amount of relaxation, romance and activities to make your honeymoon a holiday that will leave a mark on your soul forever.
Livingstone, on the Zambian side of the amazing Victoria Falls, has it all stunning landscapes and one of the Wonders of the World, the breathtaking Victoria Falls; the most luxurious lodges right on the banks of the Zambezi River; soft and hard adventure experiences its all there to guarantee you the holiday of a lifetime.
Then travel on to the Lower Zambezi National Park for some prime game viewing in the beautiful surroundings of Sausage Tree Camp.
Day 1:
Fly from Johannesburg into Livingstone, then transfer to Tongabezi Lodge. You will be welcomed by the staff of this privately-run luxury lodge. Tongabezi lodge is understated but refined with a strong sense of the exciting spirit of Africa. Architecturally unique cottages and houses are built on the banks of the Zambezi offering romantic seclusion and superb views. Furnished with King Size beds and luxury bathrooms, it is a haven in which you can relax while being spoilt with sophisticated service and attention to detail. Settle into your house and take advantage of the sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Each house has a private balcony or deck overlooking the river, creating the perfect setting for a candlelit dinner under the stars. Guests can also choose to dine at a private table on the river deck or with other guests hosted by one of our guides.
Day 2:
After breakfast chose from any of the activities on offer. Included in your trip are Sunrise and sunset boat trip on the Zambezi; guided canoeing excursion; lunch on a local island with guided walk; fishing, a visit to the Victoria Falls on the Zambian Side, a game drive in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park (Park fees are extra), a walk in the gorges below the Falls, a Cultural visit to the museums (Museum entrance is extra), a Shopping trip on the Zambian side of the Falls. Excluded but available are all Livingstone activities like Helicopter flips, microlighting, river-rafting, bungee jumping, elephant trails, horseback safaris and much more
Or just relax at the lodge.
Day 3 & 4:
Your stay at Sindabezi Island begins with either a short boat ride or a guided canoe trip down the Zambezi River to the island. There are opportunities for game viewing, as you will pass close to the shores of Zimbabwe where animals wander from the Zambezi National Park to drink at the rivers edge. The main camp area is set on the sand and Sindabezi Island is the perfect place to relax, unwind and simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity hidden Africa can offer.
Sindabezi Island is a private island paradise nestled in the waters of the Zambezi, upstream of the Victoria Falls. It is the only African bush camp in the area and the most environmentally friendly property on the Zambezi. Here, in a haven of natural tranquillity, you will truly experience the sights and sounds of the African bush. Sindabezi Island sleeps only 10 people, in five, open fronted, thatched chalets with wooden decks overlooking the Zambezi River. Every room has flush toilets and hot bucket showers on demand with water a plenty for a good long shower. The two Honeymoon Chalets have romantic baths. There is no electricity on the island and rooms are lit romantically with hurricane lamps by night. Every room has a canvas which can come down to close the room at night but most guests prefer to wake up to the views over the river. All Livingstone activities are on offer and this will be your home for 2 nights.
Day 5:
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Jeki via Lusaka. Meet your guide at Jeki airstrip for your transfer to Sausage Tree Camp. The transfer consist of a 10 minute drive from Jeki to the Zambezi River and then a 25 minute speed boat ride up the river to Sausage Tree Camp.

Accommodation consists of unique Bedouin-style white canvas. The open air bathrooms and expansive Teak decks with Zambezi River views are a signature of the camp. The honeymoon suites offer the most luxurious accommodation on the Zambezi. .
Sausage Tree Camp offers the widest range of safari activities including day and night game drives, walks, canoe trips, boat cruises and fishing. With personalized guiding, you can decide exactly what activity you would like to take and when. Elephant, hippo and buffalo are seen in camp daily. There is also an extremely high chance of seeing lion, leopard, wild dogs, hyena, waterbuck, zebra, impala, bushbuck and kudu during your stay.
Days 6-8:
Choose from any of the offered activities and enjoy the prime game viewing with expert guides. A typical day at Sausage Tree Camp could look like this:
05:30 - Wake-up to your favourite beverage.
06:00 - Breakfast
06:30 - Morning activity: perhaps a gentle canoe trip meandering the river banks wildlife, or a game drive to catch sight of lion or leopard before they take shade for the day, or a walk to encapsulate the personality of a herd of elephant or buffalo and to take in the smaller and often missed intimacy of the African bush.
12:00 - Lunch
13.00 - As the days are warm (even hot) a little time to relax and read up from our library on the experiences of the morning or enjoy a relaxing massage.
15:30 - Afternoon Tea
16:00 - Afternoon activity, as the sun starts to cool now is the time for fishing, a Sausage Tree Camp spectacular, as we have the finest Tiger fishing in the world. Or you may prefer to head off into the early sunset by vehicle to enjoy the myriad of nocturnal species, not just cats, but honey badger or porcupine or the ever elusive but majestic African Owl.
19:30 - Drinks around the camp fire, time to unwind.
20:00 - Our candlelit dinner whilst reminiscing the memories of the day
Day 9:
Transfer back to Jeki airstrip and flight to Lusaka.
