This custom tour to Mozambique takes in two of the country's most beautiful areas - Gorongosa National Park and the beach town of Vilanculos.

The park is at the southern end of the Great African Rift Valley, in the heart of the country. It is jam-packed full of wildlife across its grassland savanna and rain forest – there are lions, elephants, buffalos, and many kinds of antelope. Lake Urema and its waterways support healthy populations of crocodiles and hippos.

Vilanculos is a tropical paradise with sandy white beaches overlooking emerald waters. The bustling village has a great relaxed holiday vibe and a number of small quaint restaurants serve up Vilanculos' finest seafood. Vilanculos is the gateway for exploring the nearby Bazaruto Archipelago and offers a host of water-based activities.

Days 1 to 4:
Fly from Johannesburg to Beira, Mozambique’s second largest city, then transfer by road to Gorongosa National Park (approx. 3.5 hours). The National Park has spectacular scenery with a variety of ecosystems and wildlife. Spend three nights in a cabana for two (breakfast included) and enjoy the wonderful wildlife in the park. Join a game drive out across the miombo (wooded savanna) to look for lions, elephants, and antelope.

Day 4:
Transfer back to Beira, then fly to the capital Maputo and spend one night in a Bed and Breakfast.

Days 5 to 10:
Fly from Maputo to the tropical seaside village of Vilanculos - a coastal paradise 700kms north of Maputo. Spend five nights here in a small Bed & Breakfast. Vilanculos boasts white sandy beaches, tropical islands, rich marine life and extensive coral reefs. Activities here include horse riding safaris, scuba diving, traditional dhow sailing or just simply relaxing on the magnificent beaches.

Day 10:
Fly directly back to Johannesburg from Vilanculos
