This fantastic custom tour to Mozambique showcases two of the country's most stunning areas – the Gorongosa National Park for prime game viewing and the Bazaruto Archipelago in Southern Mozambique.

The park is at the southern end of the Great African Rift Valley, in the heart of the country. It is jam-packed full of wildlife across its grassland savanna and rain forest – there are lions, elephants, buffalos, and many kinds of antelope. Lake Urema and its waterways support healthy populations of crocodiles and hippos.

The Bazaruto Archipelago is the quintessential tropical paradise with clear, turquoise waters. Snorkelling and Diving trips here are amazing. Bazaruto Island is the largest island of the Bazaruto Archipelago. It is approximately 37km long and 7km at its widest point.

Days 1 to 5:
Fly from Johannesburg to Beira, Mozambique’s second largest city, then transfer by road to ExploreGorongosa, deep within the Gorongosa National Park (approx. 3.5 hours). Enjoy the wonderful wildlife in the park. By joining a game drive out across the miombo (wooded savanna) to look for lions, elephants, and antelope.

Day 5 (Monday and Friday only):
Transfer directly from Gorongosa to Bazaruto Island.

Days 5 to 10:
Bazaruto Island is a tropical dream come true. Spend five nights here in Bazaruto Lodge, a 4-star getaway on a tranquil bay with A-frame chalets amid lush gardens. Relaxing in a hammock or enjoying the numerous water sport activities on offer.

This lodge offers a multitude of delights for the avid fisherman, for both big game and surf fishing. The continuing interest in conservation, tag and release is encouraged at this Mozambique resort. There are numerous opportunities for bird watching and viewing wildlife from the fresh water lakes to the sand dunes, or to the grasslands and swamps.

Day 10:
Air transfer from Bazaruto Island to Vilanculos. Fly from Vilanculos to Johannesburg.
